Sifiso holds his head high
Local boxer, Sifiso Hlongwane was beaten by points in a six-round fight against Lucky Monyebane in Johannesburg recently.
LIMPOPO – Hlongwane who is also the Limpopo Junior Lightweight Champion, is from Malamulele. Even though he lost, he was excited by the support he received from his family and fans across Limpopo, he said.
“It’s the first time that I feel this confident even after a loss, because of the support I receive from family, friends and mostly my fans. It means a lot and keeps me motivated. You must not only support me, but other sportsmen, artists and those who are doing well in their communities. Thanks for all the messages and support and sorry that I didn’t win. There’s always a next time. Thanks to my opponent, Lucky for bringing such a good fight and I hope we will do it again,” he said.
The boxer’s sponsor, Bongani Dlamini of Bonglez Accountants wished Hlongwane well in his next fight and said he hoped other boxers from the rural areas are inspired by his achievements.
