Shooting hoops, dunking balls – Jimmy aims for NBA

Jimmy Molewa's dream is to one day play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in America as he believes his positive attitude makes him capable of doing anything.

LIMPOPO – Standing tall at 1,8m, basketball player, Jimmy Molewa says he has been playing the game since the age of 12, he describes himself as a dedicated player. He currently plays for the Solomondale Pacers Basketball Club (SPBC) and while he is not at a professional level yet, he is planning on participating in the Limpopo Pride League which is hosted at the Wembley Stadium in Pretoria.

Jimmy says his height and arm span counts in his favour and he is also part of the Polokwane Basketball Academy (PBA). “I’ve been playing for the Pacers for eight years now and what I love about the club is that once you join, you become a member of the Pacers family, we assist each other with whatever is needed,” he said.

Jimmy’s dream is to one day play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in America as he believes his positive attitude makes him capable of doing anything. Jimmy is a well decorated player, having received many medals from tournaments he has participated in, including a silver medal from the Vaal Sasol u/19 tournament in 2017, and a silver medal in 2019 from a spring tournament he participated in.

In 2018, Jimmy received a bronze medal from the International Basketball League (IBL) hosted at The University of Limpopo (UL), a School Sport Summer Games medal for team Limpopo selection, a gold medal for the 015 King and Queen of the Court basketball tournament as well as a gold medal for the Charloters Easter Basketball Tournament in Mamelodi.

Jimmy’s coach, Phetolo Mahana says the Pacers have been training since May and that they are looking forward to getting back on the court.
