[WATCH] Bulls President urges Limpopo rugby stakeholders to hang in there, stay involved

A relief fund has been established, aimed to assist employees and those who serve in club and community rugby.

LIMPOPO – The recently established Vodacom Bulls Relief Fund aims to assist employees and those who serve in club and community rugby in both Pretoria and Limpopo.

The fund by The Blue Bulls Company and Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has managed to raise R1,5 million courtesy of the Bulls’ shareholders; Remgro and Patrice Motsepe, together with the main sponsor, Vodacom.

The President of the BBRU, Willem Strauss spoke to Review about the importance of stakeholders and players in the province, saying amateur structures remain the feeding schemes of their professional sides and the heartbeat of rugby.

Strauss urged stakeholders of rugby in Limpopo to stay involved in community rugby:  “Rugby will return, hopefully this year but at least, next year. We want to say to our sponsors and players involved in Limpopo, you are very important to us and your involvement is of major importance to Blue Bulls rugby”.

He added that there is a big rugby support base in Limpopo and that clubs and schools in the province are quite competitive, having produced players such as Trevor Nyakane and Arno Botha.

“We look forward to the years to come and producing more great players,” Strauss concluded.
