Sponsor helps local karate coach live his dream

A generous donation by one of his karatekas' parents allowed senpai Koena Mokgehle to compete

POLOKWANE –  Koena, who is a coach at the International Karate Organisation (IKO) Nakamura Kyokushinkaikan Limpopo, placed second in the men’s under 65 kg category during the recent World Full Contact Karate Organisation’s (WFKO) and was selected to represent South Africa and compete in Japan in December at the IKO Nakamura 2020.

Koena initially did not have enough money to go until Naazim Moti came to his rescue with a full sponsorship.

“I like the fact that sensei Koena is passionate and dedicated about what he does. My children have improved so much under his leadership and I can see a difference in them. Seeing how serious he is about what he does, I decided to sponsor him for all his upcoming competitions,” Naazim added.

Koena appreciates all the support given by Naazim and says competing would not have been possible without his help.

“I appreciate everything he has done for me and more. What he is willing to do for me allows me to achieve my goals and live my dream. I would also like to thank my coach, sensei Molefi Moloto, for training me and guiding me to where I am today,” Koena said.
