Soccer players injured as bakkie overturns

Several players of Tshivhulani Fire Brothers FC were injured last Saturday when the bakkie they were travelling in, overturned.

LIMPOPO – The team were on their way to play against Tshambobvu Junior Aces when the incident occurred.

One of the players, Vhonani Nemukula, confirmed that the accident happened near Tshifura, shortly after one of the bakkie’s tyres burst.

More than 15 people were injured, including players, officials and supporters.

The injured were taken to the Tshilidzini and Vhufuli hospitals respectively, for treatment.

At the time of going to print, three players were still being treated.

The team manager, Abby Mbedzi, expressed the hope that the players would recover soon.

The secretary of Safa Vhembe, Mulimisi Muneri said they were relieved to learn that no lives had been lost.
