Africanos take the Kilimanjaro Super Cup title

Africanos FC were crowned Kilimanjaro Super Cup champions at a fully packed Seshego Stadium on Sunday, 24 November, following their 1-0 win over Queens FC.

POLOKWANE – The purpose of the event was to honour Sarel Nong, who conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in 2017.

One of the organisers, Tumelo Masebe told BONUS that he was happy with the turnout and that he hopes the event united the youth of Polokwane through sport.

“Without Kgopotso, Nong and Neo Vega, the Polokwane Social Derby would not have been possible. We always try our best to bring quality sport, recreation and entertainment to our people and encourage them to live healthier lives. Polokwane Social Derby promotes healthy living,” he said.

Nong said he was honoured to have the tournament played based on his achievements. Africanos FC chairman, Solly Boshomane said they analysed some of the games before playing in the tournament which allowed them to put pressure on their opponents.

“This is our first time playing for the cup and I am glad my boys did well and followed my instructions. I told them they are playing this tournament for their chairman,” said Boshomane.

The tournament was made possible by sponsors Lebowa Funerals, MMP Security and Ambulance and KM Events.
