POLOKWANE – The idea of the tournament is to promote a healthy lifestyle through sport, while the main purpose is to honour Sarel Nong, who conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in 2017.
One of the organisers, Tumelo Sakkie Masebe, says Nong flew the Seshego flag high when he took on Africa’s biggest mountain and the tournament will celebrate that achievement. Young aspiring entrepreneurs will also get a chance to promote their businesses at the tournament’s pop-up market.
Masebe added that the tournament aims to unite the youth in Polokwane through sport. “We want to encourage people to live healthier lives and encourage the youth to stay away from drugs and substance abuse,” he said.
Nong said he is honoured to have the tournament played based on his achievements and hopes it will inspire the youth to follow in his steps. “PSD is not a professional tournament, but the youth of Polokwane getting together in the name of lifestyle and fun. I encourage everyone to follow in my footsteps,” he said.
