Dust off your soccer boots for the Father a Nation 7-a-side tournament

Active Events in conjunction with Father a Nation will be hosting a Father a Nation 7-a-side soccer and netball tournament at the Polokwane Rugby Fields on Saturday, 26 October. 

POLOKWANE – Active Events and Father A Nation will be hosting a soccer and netball tournament aimed at promoting sport but also in the hope of donations streaming in to help aspiring sports stars in need and the two orgainaisers are encouraging local teams in and around Polokwane to get involved in the name of charity.

Active Events’ Craig Lewis told Review that the organisation raises funds for charities across South Africa by hosting sports days and has raised funds for Reach for a Dream, CHOC, Afrika Tikkun and Morester Children’s Home through their events. “Through our donations, we help these charities to fight life-threatening diseases, poverty and abandonment,” he said.

Father a Nation helps, equips and inspires men to be better role models, fathers and mentors in their communities. They also focus on potential fathers and equip men to take action against gender-based violence. During and before the tournament, participants will be made aware of gender-based violence and how to be better men in society.

The round-robin tournament will take place on Saturday, 26 October at the Polokwane Rugby fields next to the Peter Makoba Stadium. Kick-off for the event will be at 10:00 and all teams must register on the day at 09:00.

Prizes include R10 000 for first place, R3 000 for second place and third place prize winners will be kitted out in their own soccer kit. Entry fee for teams will be R350 and teams will receive an Adidas Ball as a gift. 

Both club and social teams may enter for the event, clubs may enter up to four teams but all players must be over 18-years-old. Entries can be submitted via email, WhatsApp or SMS with the team name and the number of the coach.
