Coach Refiloe a tennis ace

POLOKWANE – Refiloe Molaoa’s biggest achievement to date is getting ranked by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in 2013.
Refiloe, a coach with the Amos Tennis Academy in Polokwane says he started playing tennis 11 years ago after he and his nephew found out that the coach at the soccer club they played for took money from the club.
“Soccer started out as something we could do to get out of the house and stay active but my love for the sport grew and I could not see myself doing anything else,” he explains.
Refiloe started coaching two years ago and says that he loves that tennis forces people to be self-reliant and independent. “It’s all up to you and you alone need to solve the problems that the sport places you in when playing a game.”
He adds that it is very important for people who would like to play the sport competitively, to trust and never second guess themselves. “You need to be sure of every move you make.”
Refiloe advises children to start practising tennis at a young age to improve their ball skills and hand-eye coordination. When he is not on the court he likes to watch movies, play other sport like soccer and to go out with friends and family.
He describes himself as a caring person who usually places himself in someone else’s shoes and someone who tries to help people wherever he can. “I believe in leaving people better off than when you found them. I believe in uplifting others and making people better human beings at the end of the day,” he says.

He uses this quote to motivate his players. “The sport takes time. Make a lot of mistakes and fall over your own feet. Fail better every time but never give up,” he added.
