Zanis excel at North Zone Championship

Some of Zanis Gymnastics Academy's rhythmic gymnasts made their parents and coaches proud when they took part in the North Zone Championship recently.

The Zanis gymnasts who performed well during the North Zone Championship are Phenyo Rangoato, Marcel Antonio, Oritanda Tshidavhu, Rohan Bernhardi, Damian Sibley, Rijandré de Bruin, Dihan van Niekerk, Agape Masehla, Joshua Venter, Sidney van den Berg, Henre Ras, Xander Swanepoel and Tristan Els in front, Anuska Deyzel, Deané Fuchs, Mia O’Reilly, Nicole Markos, Thorisho Manzini, Abigail de Lange, Leize du Toit, Renscke Venter, Charlie Stevens, Zara van Kraayenburg, Aruska Hilton, Bronti Mae Cordew

POLOKWANE – Of the 60 gymnast from Zanis Polokwane, Zanis Vivo, Zanis Hoedspruit and Zanis Tzaneen competed at the Matsport Centre and 36 of them did very well.

Coaches Tanya Bouwman, Cecil van den Berg and Judge Liam Botha were part of the team who represented Limpopo at the competition.

Each gymnast received a medal according to his/her total score of which gold was the highest. The Zanis gymnasts claimed a total of 36 medals: 25 gold and 11 silver. They were accompanied by coaches Lesley Bonne and Melize Gouws.

“We are extremely proud of all our gymnasts and coaches who competed at the North Zone Championships. Your hard work has really paid off,” Zani Prinsloo said.

• Overall winner boys Level 2 age seven – Bentley Hixon.

• Overall winner boys Level 2 age eight – Ken de Lange.

• Overall Winner Boys Level 3 age 11 to 12 – Dihan van Niekerk.

• Overall Winner Girls Level 1 age seven – Deane Fuchs.

• Overall Winner Girls Level 1 age eight – Elandri Steenkamp.

• Second runner-up Girls Level 1 age six – Nicole Markos.

• Second runner-up Girls Level 1 age seven – Anika Jansen van Vuuren.

• Second runner-up Girls Level 2 age seven – Anuska Deyzel.
