Respect is all about cycling

Respect Ramashia is still learning the tricks of cycling, but showed that he has the talent to go far in the sport

LIMPOPO – After only 15 months of cycling Respect recently received his Limpopo colors for cycling during the Magoebas Cycle Race. “I started 15 months ago after watching the Absa Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race, I told myself that I wanted to be one of the people on a bicycle one day,” he says.

He adds that it is a sport that teaches you to be strong as a person. It teaches you to be fit, competitive have endurance and it is something that you cay enjoy on your own and with friends, making the sport something that you can love.

He says the best thing about the sport is that it makes you feel free, and gives you the opportunity during races to meet different people. He says the one thing that makes the sport difficult is that cycling costs a lot of money to start.

He would like to see the sport grow on different levels, because he says that it is something that can cater for all age groups.

“I train almost everyday. It will include riding hills, looking after the technical side and improving my overall skills. I also test my endurance for races by riding uphill for around an hour or so,” he says.

He describes himself as a patient person who loves sport. He loves not only taking part in it, but also watching sport in his free time.

He says that even though cycling is something that you do on your own, it is important that people join a club where they can learn more about the sport and have the support that he had to help him reach new heights.
