POLOKWANE – During the marathon, LFP and PAF donated 37 pairs of school shoes to Ham No 1 Primary School in Ga-Mmerebele in Steilloop.
The school shoes were collected as part of the aerobics charity marathon in February this year at Ngoako Ramahlodi Sports Complex.
LFP Marketing Manager, George Sethosa, said: “The school shoes will be distributed in the rural areas where LFP operates. This is the second year we are hosting this initiative and we hope we will be able to collect even more shoes next year”.
He added LFP aims to assist the poorest of poor. “We want to thank the community we serve for their support over the past 42 years,” he said, thanking everyone who made the charity marathon a success and everyone who donated a pair of school shoes.
PAF Chairperson, Semakaleng Mabeba, said this annual charity event aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle while raising awareness of the plight of impoverished people in the community.
“We work hand-in-hand with LFP and through this event we want to encourage health and fitness. We have been doing this for years and it has been great to team up with LFP, they are a good sponsor for us. The shoes we collect will be distributed to the different schools we have identified in Limpopo,” said Mabeba.
Ham No 1 Primary School teacher, Phuti Ngoepe, said this donation will help the school and learners a lot.
“This is a dream come true for us as some of the learners used to come to school without proper school uniforms. This affected their self-confidence and their ability to concentrate in class. What LFP and PAF did for us is something we will not forget,” Ngoepe said.
