Anaconda Nonina defends her title

The well-known Giyani Boxing Club (GBC) boxer, Bukiwe Nonina, defended her WBF Bantamweight title against Ellen Simunyika from Malami by points last Thursday at Orlando YMCA hall in Soweto.

LIMPOPO – Anaconda, as she is known by boxing lovers, won by points in her 10th round.

According to her promoter and trainer, Immanuel Muthavhatshindi, they were excited by the win.

“We know it was not going to be an easy fight but we put more effort into training and thoroughly prepared for this fight.

“I’m happy she won during Women’s Month and we dedicate this victory to all women,” he said. He thanked the Mopani Mayor, Nkakareng Rakgaole, and Mafumo and Sons company for the support they have shown towards Nonina’s boxing career.

This was the second time Nonina defended her title since she won it against Alesia Graaf from Germany in 2017.

Nonina’s next fight will be in October but Muthavhatshindi didn’t name the opponent as he still needs to discuss it with the sponsors.

Another Giyani Boxing Club boxer, Tshiko Mulovhedzi, will face off against Zino Meuli from Switzerland for the vacant WBF Welterweight title in Switzerland on 25 August and Muthavhatshindi said he was excited about the fight.
