[VIDEO] Summer Sports warm up the winter cold at Good Hope Primary

Various local schools recently competed in the Circuit Level Summer Sport competition.

POLOKWANE – “Summer Sports include indigenous games such as Kgati, Diketo, Bhathi, Morabaraba, yo-yo, hoola hooping and many others. We decided to encourage our learners from Good Hope Primary to participate in the gmaes as they are unique and also serve as a way of preserving old traditions which we (older generations) followed,” said Mosima Serokole, teacher at Good Hope Primary school.

Indigenous sports allow for those children who are not very good or interested in ordinary sports such as soccer, netball, basketball, rugby, and various others, to also have an opportunity to be involved in extra mural activities. This allows them to keep fit, exercise as well as have some fun.

“It is about time that our children get involved in such sports and learn about these historical games and keep the legacy alive,” she added.
