POLOKWANE – There is no age restricting and the only rules are that people and children shooting must do so under supervision.
The range offers a variety of different shooting styles such as handgun, rifle and even bow shooting among others. The aim of the shooting range for 2018 and 2019 is to promote shooting among the youth, especially women, as the sport is usually regarded as a men’s sport.
Lourens Erasmus, Bushveld Hunters Association Chairperson, told Review the range would like to offer people the opportunity to come and see what shooting is all about as a sport and form of self defence. “We would all like to say you will never have to use these skills for self-defence, but facts are you would be much better off if one day you have to use it and you have the know how,” he explains.
Recently a world class shooting competition was held at the shooting range and saw people from as far as Russia come to the city to compete.
Lourens says for the different styles, there are stages which need to be set and this is something the Polokwane range can offer people.
The range is open weekdays as well as over the weekends and people from all walks of life are urged to come and have a look at what they may find to be their next great passion in life.
