[WATCH] Early morning bootcamp leisure

The Jama School of Art, Music and Dance hosted a bootcamp on the rooftop at Savannah Mall on 21 July to promote a healthier lifestyle among residents.

POLOKWANE – The cold winter morning did not deter fitness enthusiasts as they partook in a gruelling but fun exercise session making use of tyres in preparation for a bootcamp set to take place on 25 August.

Founder of Jama School of Art, Music and Dance, Jack Mawasha, explained why tyres were the tools of the day.

“Tyre training can add a new dimension to your strength and conditioning programme regardless of what sport you play or your level of athletic ability. When people hear me speak about adding tyre training into a strength programme they often have the mistaken impression tyres are only used by athletes who compete in strongman competitions. We bring fun back into training,” he said.

The bootcamp will be hosted by Jama School of Art, Music and Dance in partnership with Coca-Cola, Energy FM and Body Life Gym.

“It is a competition and it’s going to be tougher than ever because there will be various trainers taking over the the session in intervals. You will not be able to stop during the session or else you will be eliminated, there will be three levels,” Mawasha explained.

The only request is that people who will take part make donations of sanitary towels, toiletries and underwear.

“The competition is free, the only expectation is for a donation of the above mentioned,” said Mawasha adding people should start preparing for the competition as the stakes will be higher than other years. Children will also have an art day where they can explore their creative side.
