Polokwane City Club announces player line-up for upcoming Absa Premier Soccer League

Polokwane City officially introduced seven new players and a new coach last Wednesday in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – The six new players are Lehlohonolo Nhlapo, Themba Chauke, Khayalethu Mjoli, Tebogo Kalake, Bongani Manavhela, Msekeli Mvalo and Muhammed Anas with Jozef Vukusic from Czechoslovakia taking over as coach from Bernard Molekwa, who was demoted to assistant coach.

The club parted ways with Thabiso Semenya, Thapelo Tshilo, Nazier Jacobs, Randy Ngobe, Rendani Ndou and Donald Makondelele.

“Our aim is to compete for silverware this season and we are doing everything possible to keep the players in good shape by playing a number of friendlies,” said team boss, Johnny Mogaladi.

“We want a team this season that plays football on the ground, not ‘confusing’ football. This season, you are going to see a much-improved City, playing the South African style of football,” he added.

“The team will have a completely new look in terms of players. The coach made it clear he would like to give every player a chance to showcase their talent”.

City will face Black Leopards in the first match of the Absa Premier Soccer League at Thohoyandou Stadium on 4 August and he added they aim to start the new season on a high note, unlike the previous two seasons when they gave away points to their opponents.

He appealed to the club’s supporters to come in their numbers to support the team at the Thohoyandou Stadium for their first league match.
