Tennis players gear up for new season

With the 2018 tennis season around the corner, players are invited to prepare for the Limpopo closed tournament set for November and December.

POLOKWANE – To keep up with what is needed for young players to take part in the tournament, Limpopo Junior Tennis took the opportunity to help keep the players informed.

“The Limpopo Junior Tennis committee thanks all the players and parents for their commitment in taking part in competitive tennis last year. I am sure we will see the fruit of your efforts during this year’s SA Schools Tournament,” Wynand Bothma, Limpopo Junior Tennis Chairperson, said.

In a bid to ensure they provide tennis players with even more opportunities to qualify for the tournament, Limpopo Junior Tennis opted to give more criteria options.

Criteria:

• All players are required to play the Limpopo Open tournament (12 to 13 May) to obtain a ranking on the Limpopo Junior Tennis ranking list.

• A tennis Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the prospective player must be sent to info@ljtennis.co.za by 31 October for the selection committee to make a decision for the November and December tournament. The CV must clearly indicate which matches they participated in as well as their positions.

For more information, rules and criteria, send an e-mail to info@ljtennis.co.za, call Alana Snyman, Limpopo Junior Tennis secretary, at 082 671 2573 or find them on Facebook at Limpopo Junior Tennis.

The Limpopo Junior Tennis selection committee reserves the right to include a Wild Card for invitation to the closed tournament at their sole discretion.

“The committee also reserves the right to limit the number of invitations provided to qualifying players to attend the closed tournament. Criteria will be reviewed to make a final decision. Obtaining the minimum criteria, therefore, does not guarantee an invitation to the closed tournament. I wish all tennis players and their parents the best for 2018 and I trust we will take Limpopo Junior Tennis to even greater heights together,” Bothma said.
