#Riding4SAeducation pedallers make a pit stop in Mokopane

The #Riding4SAeducation cycling team made a pit stop in Mokopane on Monday for a rest and good night's sleep at the Oasis Hotel before the journey to their next destination continued.

MOKOPANE – The campaign has once again hit the road of South Africa and the aim is to create awareness and support for learners who are suffering from a lack of resources by travelling 1 160 km.

The funds raised are aimed to enlighten the load for learners who struggle to pay their tertiary education fees. After the pit stop in town they pedal to Modimolle. The journey will eventually end in Lenasia on 25 February.

Upon their arrival at the Oasis Hotel learners from Thorntree Preparatory School and Chrysalis Private School awaited the cyclists. Azhar Vadi from Salaam Foundation addressed them: “By empowering and educating children like you while you are still vulnerable, we can together leave a lasting and sustainable contribution to the development of South Africa”.

Azhar Vadi loves children and the learners from Thorntree Preparatory School enjoyed talking to him.

“This is the main reason for our travels. Last year close to 1 000 pairs of school shoes, 2 500 stationery packs, school uniforms, hundreds of reusable sanitary pads and even a computer lab was sponsored.”

The learners wanted to know how they can help towards education.

Vadi said: “Stop littering, respect your teachers, environment and things around you. Your educators are the people who gets you through school. If you have respect you will make every situation around you much better.”

According to Vadi the journey is very long, but worth it.

“By bringing on various organisations this year we wish to show a united effort for a common cause towards South African education.

“Each participating organisation has been running various educational development programs within their own scope of expertise.

“The funds generated through the #Riding4SAeducation campaign will be used in these campaigns to enhance the excellent work being done by these organisations.”
