POLOWANE – Next on the agenda for the Limpopo Impalas cricket team is the National Rural Cricket fixture against Northern Cape which is set to take place at the Nirvana Oval on Saturday, 2 December.
The game is expected to start around 10:00.
This after their victory of four wickets over Mpumalanga at the Capricorn cricket oval on Saturday, 25 November. The visitors side won the initial toss and chose to bat first.
Although they had the first bat, some formidable bowling by the Impala bowlers kept hindering the Mpumalanga batsmen in settling, and the team was eventually bundled out for 195 runs for the loss of ten wickets.
The mainstay of the game Sipho Masele’s bowling managed to dismiss four batsmen from the opposite team. Masele took these wickets in his nine over spell, along with one maiden over, and had 41 runs along with four wide deliveries. Masele was however supported by bowlers Don Radebe with two Mpumalanga scalps and single wickets each taken by Pedri de Kock, Issac Senetla, Ruan Willemse and Ben Skade.
The Impalas batsmen, with a home ground advantage, tore into the bowling attack of the visitors, who ultimately, had no answer to stop the onslaught. Limpopo Impalas opening batsman Theo Janse van Rensburg, scored 61 runs from 53 balls, this including his boundary run of nine fours and a six. The remaining game changers include Adolf Swanepoel who came into the game as the fourth batsman with 44 runs which included six fours and Bruce Shiburi with his contribution of 34 runs inclusive of boundary runs from three fours and a six.
The Impalas reached the Mpumalanga target with four wickets to spare in the 46th over of the 50 overs encounter.
