Tee off at the Mayoral Golf Day on 1 December

The annual Mayoral Charity Golf Day has been a flagship project for a period of five years, which has seen the municipality connecting with communities through sport and healthy living.

POLOKWANE – On Tuesday, Polokwane Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng made the announcement of this year’s Mayoral Charity Golf Day set to take place on Friday, 1 December at the Polokwane Golf Club from 07:00.

Aside from encouraging a healthy lifestyle through sport, the Mayoral Charity Golf Day aims to raise funds to benefit disadvantaged students within the municipality enabling them to further their studies.

Francois Hartlief (Standard Bank, Area Manager), Thembi Nkadimeng (Polokwane Mayor) and Barend van Graan (Blue Bulls Company CEO) during the announcement of the Mayoral Charity Golf Day.

“During the previous financial year we managed to assist several students with parts of their tuition, managing to raise R1,8 million.

“Our goal for this year is to raise the sum of R2 million so we can assist the students with full tuition and accommodation for the duration of their studies.

“This will enable them to focus on their studies instead of worrying whether their full fees will be paid or not,” Nkadimeng said.

She told Review that she has been able to secure sponsorships from some of the municipality’s previous partners whose vision ties in with their vision of seeing Polokwane and its disadvantaged people grow.

“We continue to raise the flag for social cohesion through our longstanding partnership with our various stakeholders and look forward to what the future holds,” she concluded.
