BREAKING NEWS: France will host the 2023 Rugby World Cup

The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon in London, England.

POLOKWANE – Beating out Ireland and South Africa, France was chosen as the hosts during an announcement by the World Rugby Council at the Royal Kensington Gardens in London.

The 2023 Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the tenth Rugby World Cup, taking place in the year of the 200th anniversary of the legendary ‘invention’ of the sport by William Webb Ellis.

South Africa were announced as “preferred” candidates to host, before the announcement was made, but lost out to France.

The votes were as follows:

Round 1

France – 18

South Africa – 13

Ireland – 8

Round 2

France – 24

South Africa – 15
