Cecilia Molokwane appointed as the new President of Netball South Africa

Limpopo's passionate netball guru, Cecilia Molokwane, reached one of her main objectives when she was appointed as the new President of NSA.

POLOKWANE – “It has been one of my aspirations in my netball career. From the moment I started with netball administration, I knew where I wanted to be in netball,” Cecilia explained.

Originally from Pretoria, she made her way to Polokwane in 1993 to study at the now University of Limpopo. “After my studies I got married here and began working in Polokwane, the rest, as they say, is history,” she explained.

Although she has been appointed as president, she will not relocate to the Pretoria offices as she is an employee at the Polokwane Municipality and regards her involvement in the sport as being a necessity to fulfill her passion and her love for volunteer work. Her term is for a period of four years.

As her new position requires time and much needed attention, she will no longer be coaching any teams.

“I feel really sorry for my club, Rising Stars, but in the same breath I can say the club now has four accredited coaches and four umpires and they are in good hands. Netball in the country is my priority now,” she added.

Due to her previous netball commitments, she had experienced minimum private and family time, this will however remain unchanged. “I have been there before, so this is like a routine for me. My family is used to my netball commitments and the time it consumes. I thank them for the support and understanding, however. I am blessed to have them in my life,” she added.

According to Cecilia, the NSA aims to work closely with local municipalities and schools to enhance the development of sports in these particular areas.

She extended her gratitude to the Limpopo districts, the NSA council members as well as any netball or sport supporters in the country and those from sport fraternities around the world for their support and the well wishes she has received since her appointment.
