A passion for ballet shared between Liesl and Kimberly

Liesl Stegmann-Roodt (38) began taking ballet classes after seeing the positive impact it had on her daughter, Kimberly (7).

POLOKWANE – It all started when Kim began taking ballet classes when she was four years old and seeing how much she enjoys it and the positive impact it made on her posture and grace, her mom decided to start taking ballet classes in January as well.

“Kim often competes in competitions and eisteddfods so I thought I would be better able to assist her if I enrolled in ballet classes as well to better understand the routines and exercises. I can help her correct her technique and posture all while having fun with something we both enjoy. I did ballet as a child and one of my biggest regrets is not continuing with it.

“Now by attending ballet classes with my daughter I have the opportunity to have one less regret in my life,” Liesl said with a smile.

Liesl says Kim enjoys ballet and seems to enjoy the competitive aspect as well. “Kim’s best friend is also in her ballet class so they get to spend a lot of time together. Another aspect Kim loves about ballet is the costumes and she enjoys the costumes I design for her competitions.”

Kim wants to become a ballet teacher and costume designer when she grows up and her mom adds with a smile that she can hardly wait to wear ballet shoes when she grows up.
