A fresh approach to tennis tuition

Mitchell House sport coordinator, Rorisang Ignatius Matsiela, plans to serve bright ideas on the court

POLOKWANE – With a passion for sport and teaching, this English teacher has big plans to develop tennis in the community.

The 28-year-old from Sehlabeng in Zebediela, is studying towards a BEd through Unisa as he wants to be part of the process of developing tomorrow’s leaders.

“Teaching is the mother of all professions and nothing beats dedicated teachers, both in the classroom and in the field, who strongly believe in themselves as well as in their learners,” he said.

Matsiela matriculated from Potchefstroom Boys High in 2008 and his passion for tennis prompted him to pursue a career in the sport.

He obtained a few coaching levels through the Play and Stay tennis course through Tennis SA which enabled him to coach youngsters between the ages of three and nine.

He later obtained his Level 1 coaching qualification and can now coach children older than 10 years.

He joined the Mitchell House team in 2015 and wants to help children reach their full potential through physical development and education.

“I am the chairperson of the tennis league of several private schools in Polokwane and surrounding areas and I coach and manage the u/18 Limpopo hockey team.”

What motivates Matsiela is knowing that each day is a brand new day which allows people to make amends and to better themselves. He advises the youth to find their passion and dream big.

“Be your own person and don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. The world is yours, go ahead and claim it.”
