Pedaling for a good cause

Joyride cyclists rode over 50 km to deliver food parcels and clothes to a centre in Moletsi Ga-Phago

POLOKWANE – Cyclists in the city participated in a grueling ride for charity this past weekend.

JOYRIDE cyclists participated in a 66 km ride on Saturday from Nguni Grill to Moletsi Ga-Phago to donate food parcels to Baebele Centre.

According to ride organiser, Shawn Ramahlodi, the cycling event was held for charity.

“It’s an honour that we have reached this far. Our aim was to reach out to the less-privileged as well as to enjoy the ride,” he said.

“It was tough to organise this kind of event, and we are thankful that it was a success. We collected food parcels, sanitary towels and clothes so that we could help the Baebele Centre in Moletsi Ga-Phago. We want to try to reach out to or to adopt the community. We want to be the cyclists that make a difference to the community at large,” he continued.

Polokwane Municipality Director of Community Development, and acting Municipal Manager, Ndavhe Ramakuela, supported the cause.

“We have to support it so that children can have the basic things that they require.

“We feel 66 km is a reasonable distance to ride and we should be able to it on a daily basis for a good cause,” he said.
