Self-defence instructor to teach woman to be safe

Local fitness and personal trainer, Liana Fourie, is bringing self-defence classes for women to the city.

POLOKWANE – Fourie told Review that for her, as a woman, it is important to know what you can and cannot do and how to defend yourself if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.

“I believe all women should know how to defend themselves and should feel confident, whatever the situation may be, they will be able to take care of themselves,” Fourie explained.

Fourie and her husband, Danie, are well-known in the city with Danie winning several accolades for arm wrestling.

The self-defence classes will be presented by Daan du Toit, who she met through arm wrestling, at her gymnasium.

Du Toit is an experienced self-defence instructor.

He aims to help women to defend themselves in a variety of situations.

“These self-defence classes will help women know what to do and how to react in a variety of situations they might find themselves in due to the prevalent crime in South Africa,” he said.
