POLOKWANE – Bakgaga ba Mphahlele held Kaizer Chiefs to a 2-2 draw at the weekend.

The teams met in an Absa Premierships encounter at the Peter Mokaba Sport Complex on Saturday night.

Baroka FC’s Mxolisi Kunene’s late goal ensured his side shares the spoils with Amakhosi. Baroka got the first corner kick in the first minute of the game but their efforts to fire the ball past Itumeleng Khune were fruitless. Victor Letsoalo’s long range in the fourth minute was saved by Khune.

The visitors got a goal through Erick Mathoho with an easy tap after six minutes of play. Baroka equalised not long after as Letsoalo scored a beauty which confused match officials a bit.

Chiefs players were looking for a lead before the half time mark. Edmore Chirambadare’s long range in the 37th minute went wide with Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s header going over the crossbar at 39 minutes. Amakhosi got yet another chance two minutes before half time but Chirambadare failed to connect with the ball.

A few action shots from the game:

Chiefs was awarded a penalty a minute before halftime and Bernard Parker handed Amakhosi a lead. Baroka came back with a lot of pressure, pushing for an equaliser and made beautiful saves on the other end of the pitch. An equaliser finally came ten minutes before stoppage time courtesy of Kunene who eliminated about three defenders on his way into the box before firing past Itumeleng Khune.

Four minutes were added to the second half but none of the teams managed to add a goal to their list.  Maboke Matlakala was named Man-of-the-Match.
