Lim fencers outclass their competition at national championships

“I still get goosebumps when I think about this past weekend," said team manager for Firebirds Fencing Club, Tersia Goosen.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo showed class at the recent Junior National Fencing Championships that took place in Soweto.

This year’s competition recorded the highest number of participants with 243 fencers that took part in the event.

Fencers from local clubs did not allow this number to scare them as they collected 16 medals, more than any other province.

“I still get goosebumps when I think about this past weekend, I saw these fencers grow up to become top performers right in front of my eyes, they did really well,” said team manager for Firebirds Fencing Club, Tersia Goosen.

Two of the fencers who represented Limpopo at the competition have qualified for the World Fencing Championship which take place in July.
