POLOKWANE – One name reigned familiar when Cricket South Africa on Tuesday, announced the 14-woman Momentum Proteas squad that will take part in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament from 7-21 February 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Limpopo Impala Cricket Club Coordinator, Sedibu Mohlaba was named as the team’s manager and will travel yet again, with the team as they look to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 from 26 June to 23 July in the United Kingdom.

The team, and management, will gather at the CSA Centre of Excellence for a camp ahead of the tournament from 27 January to 01 February.

20 January

Limpopo Impala Cricket Club Coordinator, Sedibu Mohlaba, has set off to join the management team of the Momentum Proteas women’s squad on their tour to Bangladesh.

Having toured with the Proteas before, he was one of the top candidates to accompany them as team manager.

“I was contacted by Cricket South Africa High Performance Manager, Vincent Barnes, who extended the invitation to accompany the team on tour. I seized the opportunity with both hands,” he said.

The team departed for Bangladesh on 8 January where they will play five matches and return on 20 January.

Sedibu is passionate about cricket and as the club coordinator of the Limpopo Impalas, part of his responsibilities include helping children develop their skills and grow a love for the sport.

His duties as team manager include taking care of all the logistical aspects of the tour, ensuring that the coach and players only worry about the playing aspect of the tour and nothing else.

“As part of security protocol, we will not be able to travel and visit any locations not predetermined, however, I greatly look forward to visiting the local market and the beach as it is in close proximity of where we will stay,” Sedibu concluded.
