Ready to tumble

"Gymnastics is a discipline, not just a sport." - Richard Marshall

MARSHALL Gymnastics Academy started off the year with a somersault or two.

More than 70 eager gymnasts started training on Monday to reach higher levels in 2017. Richard Marshall, owner of MGA, said “Gymnastics is a discipline, not just a sport.”

Marshall Gymnastics offers classes in men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, funastics (beginner gymnastics), tumbling, and gymnaestrada (combination of rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, and dance choreography).

Louis Boshoff (17), one of MGA’s senior gymnasts, has been doing gymnastics for 7 years. He still enjoys it every day, but says it requires self-discipline in order to reach new heights. His favourite apparatus is the parallel bars and he definitely encourages others to also participate in gymnastics.

Johan Strauss (17) has been practicing gymnastics for more than a decade at MGA. He is also one of the senior gymnasts and boasts with numerous medals and awards. Johan enjoys doing high bar and his most challenging apparatus is vault. “MGA is the best club to be at,” Johan says.

Marshall Gymnastics is located on the corner of Geyser and Fourie Street, on the RET Centre premises. Prospective gymnasts are welcome to contact us for a free evaluation class at 079 217 8410.
