Baroka reveals new signings

Bakgaga ba Mphahlele followers can expect to see new faces both on the pitch and the side-line at the beginning of the second leg of the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

POLOKWANE – Soccer fans will miss Kgoloko Thobejane’s crazy dance moves as he has been deployed as the team’s assistant coach. Edward Williams will work closely with Thobejane as the second assistant coach. The duo will be led by Jacob Sakala as head coach.

Mark Harrison will make his debut as technical director. According to Baroka Communications Manager, Jimmy Ngobeni, the new appointments aim to ease their relegation concerns and again push the team to the top eight where it belongs.

Ngobeni said Harrison started with his duties last week and Sakala is expected to commence his duties today [Tuesday].

Baroka also signed new players and expect to sign more before the transfer window closes in a week’s time. The new signings includes the likes of Jose Garcia, Helder Pelembe, Mxolisi Kunene, Sindo Letsoalo, Tshinuna Abashoni, Ayanda Dlamini and Siphamandla Sangweni.

Ngobeni said, “I think the team will perform better with the new players and help us escape relegation. We committed lousy mistakes in our previous games and this cost us a lot of points. We aim to win as many games as possible in the coming leg.”

He further said management assessed the state of the team and that is when they realised they need to make changes.

Bakgaga ba Mphahlele are currently in 16th place (last on the log) with 12 points after 15 matches. Baroka will face Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on 8 February.
