Golden girl Caster Semenya to support local event

The city’s golden girl Caster Semenya and marathon runner Ludwick Mamabola are expected to run in the Mapungubwe Race taking place this December.

LIMPOPO – Hosted by Limpopo Athletics, Run/Walk for Life Polokwane and the Department of Sports, Art and Culture; the event will take place on Saturday, 10 December at the Seshego Stadium.

Mamabola and Semenya have been announced as the ambassadors of the race, which will feature a 21.1km, 10km, and 5km race as well as a Caster Semenya 800m fun run for children 10 years and younger.

Semenya herself will be participating in the fun run.

The 21.1km race will start at 10:00, the 10km at 07:10 and the 5km at 08:00 with the fun run kicking off at 10:00.

The entry fee is R60 for the 21.1km race and R40 for the 10km race. A temporary licence is required and will be available on the day for R30. Entry for the 5km is R20 and the 800m fun run is free to join.
