Female athletes steal the show
The Polokwane Road Runner Club held a prize giving ceremony on Saturday to honour a few of their most talented athletes.
POLOKWANE – Veterans such as Ludwick Mamabolo and Johan van der Merwe were among those honoured but it was the ladies who stood out on the day.
Jane Mudau and Geneva Raphahla are phenomenal athletes. Mudau has competed in the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons. She was awarded the Female Master Athlete of the Year as well as Female Athlete of the Year Award. Raphahla walked away with no less than four awards. She received awards for Best Combined Team which she shares with her teammate, the Most Improved Female Athlete, Fastest Novice Female and Female Comrades Athlete of the Year.
Raphahla says winning all these awards will take some time to sink in.
“I truly cannot believe this is happening to me. I feel honoured and lucky and I thank God, my family and the club for always being there to support and motivate me,” Raphahla concluded.
