Sundowns dismantles Polokwane City

Rise and Shine was no match for Mamelodi Sundowns when the teams met at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex last night (Wednesday).

POLOKWANE –  Polokwane City suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Absa Premiership title defenders after Bafana Ba Style got the back of the net twice through the fancy footwork of Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.

The league defending champions kept Rise and Shine under pressure in the first ten minutes of the game with the hope to get an early goal but their efforts were fruitless. The Brazilians dominated for most of the match but failed to convert most of their chances into goals which seemed to frustrate Pitso Mosimane on the side-lines.

The half time score was 0-0 as none of the teams managed to get the ball in the back of the net.

The Brazilians opened the scoring line in the 55th minute through Percy Tau after finishing a wonderful cross from Mamelodi Sundowns new comer, Thapelo Morena. Rise and Shine seemed a bit lost in the middle of the park and this gave Sundowns enough room to put pressure on the hosts.

The goal from Tau made Polokwane to lose focus which gave the visitors a chance to create more chances.

Khama Billiat added another goal on Sundowns scoresheet with only nine minutes to go. The cross from Tau found Billiat unmarked a few metres from the goal line which made it easy for him to convert the goal.

This is the first win for the Brazilians since the beginning of the season after playing three games.
