Eagles bring T20 trophy home

Eagles Cricket Club beat defending champions Hornbills Cricket Club during the Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) 2016/17 T20 Club Competition final on Sunday afternoon at the Polokwane Cricket Club.

POLOKWANE – The two sides earlier won their respective semi-finals to reach the finals in which Eagles batted first.

They proved to be the better side on the day and posted an impressive 195 thanks to a quick fire 84 off 47 balls by Jacob Potgieter who hit 12 fours and two sixes.

Hornbills played a determined game with batsman Garth Lancefield scoring 49 runs off 29 balls with four fours and three sixes, however, it was not enough as the team lost quick wickets and Eagles took the trophy.

The team was honoured during a prize giving as they received medals by LIC Club coordinator, Sedibu Mohlaba, who congratulated both teams for their effort and said it was good to have the trophy back in Polokwane, before handing it over to captain Jon-Paulo Vieira Lopes.
