“We organise the event because this is our way of assisting the community in their quest for healthier lifestyles, said organiser Kobie Marais.
Many people nowadays are getting more health-conscious and are participating in various races,” Marais said.
Some of Polokwane and Limpopo’s elite athletes also joined in the race.
Lutendo Mapoto was the winner of the 10 km race finishing in a time of 34 minutes. “I thought my performance was good and I enjoyed the open road. I think overall I performed pretty well,” he said.
In the 21,1 km race, professional athlete, Emmanuel Ramohlale, finished in second place in a time of 1:18:20. He says along the way the weather conditions became too extreme for him. “I didn’t perform the way I wanted to. The sun was too hot for me and that affected my overall performance.
But second place is not that bad,” he said.
