Fightstars SA – local MMA fighters dominate in the cage

WATCH: A short interview with Roedie Roets interview after the fight.

POLOKWANE – Three Fightstars fighters did their club and the province proud as they each walked away with a win after the weekend’s exciting competition that took place in the city.

Andre Erasmus, Hp Van Staden and Roedie Roets represented their club in the first ever Fightstars Fighting Championships South Africa.

Andre took down his opponent with a rear-naked choke in the very first round. HP had a tougher fight as he came up against a champion opponent with very little preparation time, but won in the second round with a rear-naked choke. Roedie made his professional debut at the competition and took the win with a Technical Knockout in the first round.

Proud coach, Jan Roets was happy with the fighters’ performances and told us what lies ahead for Andre, HP and Roedie respectively.

“André must fight about seven or eight more amateur fights before he can go professional,” said Roets.

“ HP now has to defend his title and if it goes well he will look to turn professional as well.

“As for Roedie, he is done for this year but will continue to build on his professional record from next year on” Roets explained.

Roedie and Jan both wanted to thank St. Marco Hall for their facilities, BB Auto Group and Country Blue Lodge for their sponsorship.
