POLOKWANE – Cancel all your plans for the weekend and get ready for the Fightstar Fighting Championship South Africa taking place on 29 October.
Polokwane’s very own MMA stars Roedie Roets and HP van Staden will be fighting in the Fightstar 20 event this weekend and both fighters will need the support of their home crowd on the night.
Roedie, who is the current Light Weight Amateur World Champion will be making his Pro Debut and will face Ewaldt Botha in what promises to be an exciting fight.
HP will face Scott Kenee in the Welterweight division and says he looks forward to fight in his home city and he hopes to promote the sport as much as possible in Polokwane.
“I don’t know much about my opponent as I have never seen him fight, but I do know that he is an excellent fighter,” HP explains.
“We have been working hard in our training for the upcoming fights so we hope for the best and I know we will be doing well” said coach of the two fighters, Jan Roets.

The fight will take place on Saturday, 29 October at the St Marco Hall, starting at 19:00.
