Records fly at sport meet

A total of 164 girls and 183 boys took part in the Prisma Jewaskiewitz Athletics Grand Prix event.

POLOKWANE – Once again the ground-breaking event saw athletes from eight primary schools and 12 high schools competing in a total of 169 events at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The day kicked off bright and early with primary school athletes competing in track and field events followed by the high school athletes.

This event is the biggest athletics meet event on the Limpopo athletics calendar and athletes, trainers and supporters from all over the province filled the stadium to near capacity.

New records set during the event include:

Track items:

• Zuhan Labuschagne – 8,45 seconds for the 60 m boys u/9.

• Zoe Dunster – 10,99 seconds fir the 80 m girls u/11.

• Thabang Masalesa – 11,10 seconds for the 80 m boys u/11.

• HJ Pienaar – 12,30 seconds for the 100 m boys u/12.

• Jan du Plessis – 11,86 seconds for the 100 m boys u/13.

• Zenobea Jewaskiewitz – 12,10 seconds for 100 m girls youth.

• Loutjie Steenkamp – 10,90 seconds for the 100 m boys youth.

• Landi Schutte – 04:30,80 for the 1 200 m girls u/10.

• Koena Moadi – 04:10,41 for the 1 200 m boys u/12.

• Merco Pratt – 02:14,35 for the 1 200 m boys u/13.

• Masako Alfred – 02:15,10 for the 800 m boys u/15.

• Jan Hendrik Weyers – 23,97 seconds for the 200 m boys u/14.

• Eduaniq Harmse – 23,00 seconds for the 200 m boys u/15.

• Zenobea Jewaskiewitz – 24,80 for the 200 m girls youth.

• Lara Schutte – 58,79 seconds for the 400 m girls youth.

• Loutjie Steenkamp – 51,12 seconds for the 400 m boys youth.
