MOKOPANE – The talented gymnasts of Marshall Gymnastics took part in the nine-day gymnastics spectacle in Cape Town during the SA Gym Games held from 30 September to 8 October.
The Games, which is the most prominent event on the gymnastics calendar, sees over 2 700 gymnasts from all nine provinces compete in the seven gymnastics disciplines of Artistic Men, Artistic Women, Rhythmic, Acrobatic, Trampoline and Tumbling, Ropeskipping and Gym for All. Among the cream of the crop competing in this year’s games were five 2016 Africa Championship title winners.
The gymnasts of Marshall Gymnastics, however, showed that they do not crack under pressure and obtained prestigious results.
Louis Boshoff (level 7 artistic gymnast), drew the spotlight as he raked in a first place on the vault, a third place on the floor and a fifth place overall. Luan du Plessis (level 6 artistic gymnast) boasts with a seventh place on the horizontal bar and a 10th place on the pommel horse.
Lesedi Mashishi (level 4 artistic gymnast) obtained a sixth place on both the u-bar and the beam.
Melody Raats (level 4 artistic gymnast) and Lize Janse van Rensburg (level 5 artistic gymnasts) showed off their skills and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
