Magesi FC make it to NFD

"We have fulfilled one of our goals of being promoted to the National First Division (NFD)"

POLOKWANE – These were the words of Magesi FC manager, Makgamatha Hero.

Limpopo is represented by two teams in the NFD namely Black Leopards and Magesi FC.

We have never been relegated since we started. In our camp, we don’t talk about the away and the home games. What we need is to score goals

He said the team was inspired by the club’s chairperson, Solly Makhubele, who believes in working as a team, not as individuals.

Apart from booking a lucrative ticket into the NFD next season, Magesi walked away with a R1 million prize which will give them a solid foundation for the upcoming campaign in the professional ranks.

With the winners walking away with a cool R1 million prize and the runners up R500 000, Safa President, Dr Danny Jordaan said this cash injection prepared the promoted sides well for life in the professional ranks of the First Division.

“You don’t need to look further than what happened this season in which all former ABC Motsepe sides dominated the NFD.

“Baroka FC got automatic promotion into the Premier Soccer League while Highlands Park joined them after beating everyone in the play-offs.

“And Mbombela United almost completed an amazing season in their maiden season in the NFD and will be the team to watch next season. I want to thank Patrice Motsepe for his generosity and challenge other individuals and corporate entities to do the same,” added Jordaan.
