Night vigil ahead of Nedbank Cup Final

Orlando Pirates Greater Polokwane Branch Chairperson, Dinah Lady D Matli, encourages Limpopo residents to come out in numbers and fill the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex to capacity on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – The Orlando Pirates Greater Polokwane Branch, based in Seshego, says it is ready to host other branches on Saturday when their favourite soccer team, Orlando Pirates, will bump heads with SuperSport United for the Nedbank Cup final that will be played at the Peter Mokaba Sport Complex.

According to Branch Chairperson, Dinah Lady D Matli, the stadium will be filled by Pirates branches from Durban, Cape Town and border country branches such as Botswana and Lesotho.

“Our branch will welcome other branches in Lebowakgowo, Hwelereng on Friday. We will have a night vigil where we will sing club songs to prepare for the final. I am confident that Orlando Pirates will emerge as the winners of the Nedbank Cup. This is our passport to the Caf Confederation Cup,” says Bucs Diva, an avid Pirates fan and Polokwane branch member.

She says the Orlando Pirates Greater Polokwane Branch went to the Free State when their team played against Free State Stars in the semifinals and added that their branch attends as many soccer games as possible to support their team.

She says people call her a “soccer maniac” because of the love and passion she has for the game.

“I personally support various sporting codes. I am a registered member for the Proteas supporters club as well as the Blue Bulls club and I really don’t mind flying abroad to watch the Proteas play. I love an active lifestyle,” she explains. She says she is happy that the Limpopo outfit, Baroka FC, progressed to the Premier Soccer League (PSL). She says Baroka and Polokwane City will bring a lot of soccer games to the province and this will help local businesses to generate revenue.

“We have to support these two teams as a province so that they can do well in the league and stay far from relegation. Soccer fan should show some commitment when they support their favourite teams. Our branch motto is ‘Sebata Kgomo’ which means, we go all out when we support Orlando Pirates.”

She encourages Limpopo residents to come out in numbers and fill the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex to capacity on Saturday. The game between Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United will kick-off at 15:00.

Tickets for the final are available from Computicket and Shoprite Checkers stores countrywide. There are two categories for tickets: R80 (west stand only) and R20 for children under 12. R60 (rest of the stadium) and R15 for children under 12 (children’s tickets are limited).
