Polokwane Albatrosse triumph over Tzaneen
The Polokwane Albatrosse golf team beat the Tzaneen team 9-1 during the first round of the Limpopo Golf Union League
POLOKWANE – The league match was played at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday.
Albatrosse used their home ground advantage to dominate the game from start to finish.
According to Jimmy Steele, Albatrosse captain of the day, the team was very happy with the results as this was their first year in the league.
He said the team was made up of the best golfers, and he was confident that they would compete in the finals and hopefully win the trophy.
Albatrosse will face the Mokopane golf team during the second league match that is expected to play on 16 or 17 April in Mokopane.
League results:
- Match 1 BB – Jimmy Steele and Paul Grobler 2-0 Fanie van Rensburg and Leon Pieterse.
- Match 2 BB – Arno Wienand and Jachques du Toit 1-1 Phillip Mostert and Carl Buitendag.
- Match 3 BB – Dawid van der Walt and Jaco de Bruin 2-0 Dawie van Vuuren and Jan van Jaarsveld.
- Match 4 BB – Pieter Meiring and Wynand Pretorius 2-0 Alan Bisset and Jan Viljoen.
- Match 5 singles – Nic Notley 1-0 Wayne Kurten.
• Match 6 singles – Frik van der Merwe 1-0 Bennie van der Berg.
