POLOKWANE – Two local swimmers, Sulé van der Merwe and Ude Füchs, proved they are two of the best when they were announced as Victrix and Victor Ludorum winners respectively during the South African Schools National Swimming Championship held in Pretoria from 11 to 14 December.

The two swimmers received these prestigious titles after accumulating the most points in various swimming styles.

The province was represented by 26 swimmers from Eagar Aquatics Club during this championship. According to the club head coach, Douggie Eager, all the swimmers did their best and he is happy with the outcome.

“We came home with a bag full of medals and I am sure we left our mark in Pretoria.

“We did not get time to rest during the festive holidays as we have already started preparations for the South African Age Groups Swimming Championship expected to take place in Port Elizabeth in March,” explained Eager.

He added that he was proud of all the swimmers and said they are preparing for the Age Group Swimming Gala, which will take place at the city’s public swimming pool on Saturday.

Eager said they will do their best in the gala and try to bring many medals back. He further said the training sessions are going smoothly and all the swimmers are committed and keen to represent the club at the gala.
