Mmotong FC now in the top 4

LIMPOPO – Mmotong FC (masters) is still in the 4th position of the Polokwane Masters Football League although they walloped Yellows FC (masters) 5-2 at Seshego Zone 1 sports ground on Sunday.

Yellows captain, Phineas Going Chochi, opened the scoring with a great strike from the 18 areas in the 16th minute, but did not stop Chris Malebana from equalising later after two minutes.

rans Moloto punished their opponents again in the 20th minute though Mmotong never gave up and bounced back with full force. A late goal from Lawrence Lebese in the first half from Phineas Mabotja’s great pass separated the two sides in the first half. Though the game was well-balanced on both sides from the first minutes, Mmotong later took over the game due to Phineas Mabotja’s pace and his dribbling skills.

Chochi of Yellows tried to punish the opponents in the middle of the ground throughout the game, where he tried several strikes from the centre circle, but it was already too late.

Mmotong coach, Jonas Mabotja, congratulated his team on the good performance.

“I’m glad that we managed to win the game – with team spirit we finally won the game. Securing a spot in the top four was not easy to us from the early games, but with our hard work and the team spirit we made it,” added Mabotja.

According to Yellows coach, Khotso Mohapi, the game favoured them but it is a pity they failed to maintain it.

“I’m very disappointed with the score, especially because we managed to lead our opponents. Our defensive made silly mistakes which cost us a lot.

“We planned for the game throughout the week but this really shows we still have more to do. As a team we will take it to the drawing board and see what to do in preparing ourselves for the next season,” stated Mohapi.
