POLOKWANE- Residents ran for a good cause last Saturday where Childline in conjunction with Body Life held a family fun run from the Childline office.
According to Priscilla Molaudzi, director of Childline Polokwane says the aim of the fun run is to make people aware of child abuse and to raise money to pay the Childline councillors.
“We don’t only focus on 16 Days Of Activism Against Women and Children but we focus on the daily abuse of children. Saving one child from abuse is our goal.”
“Our toll free line, 08000 55 555 is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. We are always available to assist anyone who calls the help line.”
The runners were all smiles when the received prizes such as training sessions, body assessment at Body Life, medals, t- shirts and bottles.
Winners in each category:
Ntokozo Bophela was announced the winner in the 8 km male fun run
Johana Mashishi won a prize for the female run
Dirk Lourens beat all the children and claimed the prize in the children’s category
Heinrich Wollies Wolhûter, manager at Body Life says being part of the fun run is a way of giving back to the community. “We are a community health club, a healthy family is a happy family. We are happy that Childline try their best to mend broken families. We hope more people will join the run next time.”Â
