2 Crucial NFD games for local teams to be played today

Two local soccer teams look to reclaim their top positions today (Wednesday) in the National First Division log.

LIMPOPO -After a disapointing draw against the Royal Eagles at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Sunday, Baroka FC coach, Kgoloko Thobejane says they need a win to reclaim top position in their clash with Witbank Spurs in Mpumalanga today (Wednesday). Another game to look out for this afternoon will be the Black Leopards who are looking to reclaim their glory against Highlands Park at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

After disappointing draw, Baroka now 2nd on log

LIMPOPO – Baroka FC coach, Kgoloko Thobejane says he was embarrassed by his team’s 2-2 draw against Royal Eagles at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Sunday.

Thobejane said his boys should have defeathered the Eagles, who were tired out by the heat of Limpopo but they made a very big mistake when they allowed the Eagles, who were behind by a goal, to come back and equalise through Siyanda Ngubo in the 60th minutes.

“Our striking force missed brilliant chances that could have won us the game. In the dying minutes, Lucky Mothwa could have just tapped the ball into the net to bury the Eagles, after receiving a dedicated square-pass from our right winger, Nkosinathi Ndlovu, and I couldn’t believe it when he missed it.

“It is our third disappointing draw at home and we needed a win in order to continue shining on top of the National First Division log until the end of the season.

“We have dropped two points and also dropped from the first position to the second on the log. We have 17 points and Cape Town All Stars is on top with 19 points,” he said.

“Today (Wednesday) we clash with Witbank Spurs in Mpumalanga and we need a win to reclaim our position,” said Thobejane.

Black Leopards clash against Highlands Park at the Thohoyandou Stadium this afternoon (Wednesday)

Meanwhile Black Leopards should also reclaim their glory when they clash against Highlands Park at the Thohoyandou Stadium this afternoon (Wednesday).

Lidoda Duvha is still in disarray after losing two games in a row against Mbombela United and Amazulu. This 1-0 victory over Black Leopards saw Usuthu moving to fourth spot on the log.

The Thohoyandou-based team is under the tutelage of Joel Masutha after head coach David Bright was suspended by the team’s disciplinary committee last Monday.

Leopards spokesperson, Barry Ramunenyiwa, said losing two games in a row is bad and the boys are ready to redeem their position by winning today’s match against Highlands Park. “We request people to come and cheer for the boys. Tickets are already available at Computicket. “We need a win, so that it will boost the morale when we go to play against Santos in Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday,” said Ramunenyiwa.
