POLOKWANE – City started their PSL campaign with a 3-2 home win over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

City’s Jabu Maluleke, who won man of the match, was the first to find the back of the net in the seventh minute. Celtic equalised in the 34th minute through Thapelo Morena from an unmarked position to make it 1-1.

Celtic’s Lerato Lamola grabbed the third goal in the 70th minute to put Celtic ahead but less than a minute later, Linda Shiba of City levelled the score and kept the home-side in the game. In the 78th minute, City’s Thobani Mncwango scored the wining goal after he classically finished the ball in the net to make it 3-2.

Celtic’s attempts to equalise didn’t materialise as City tightened their defence to secure maximum points.

By the time of going to press, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates were still locked in an epic battle at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in their first league match. Pirates are still licking the wounds they suffered when they lost 1-0 against Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 quarter-finals played at the Orlando Stadium last Tuesday night.

SuperSport United officially launched their new away kit for the Premier Soccer League season. The new Kappa gear for the 2015/16 season was revealed at The Multi Choice Headquarters in Randburg.

Matsatsantsa will parade their new gear at their Absa Premiership match against MP Black Aces at the Mbombela stadium on Saturday, 22 August 2015.

The shirt is all grey with a red trim on both shoulders and the ends of the sleeves. There is also red trim at the bottom of the shorts. The away strip which saw Matsatsantsa move away from their traditional white playing attire was unveiled by Matsatsantsa’s trio of new recruits, Michael Boxall, Phumelelo Bhengu and Grant Kekana.

Stan Matthews, club CEO, expressed his delight with the unusual style taken by Kappa.

“We are delighted with the new look of our kit, having worked hard on the design with input from the club and Kappa to attain a look we feel is befitting of our status as a major player in the Premier Soccer League. As the club embarks on the next exciting phase, we feel we have a fantastic looking kit and are very grateful to our sponsors, Kappa, for their continued support,” added Mathews.
