Lim quads go for it

Motorcycle and quad bike competitors in the Louis Trichardt area competed in their first national off-road race, the Soutpansberg 400, on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Motorcycle and quad bike competitors in the Louis Trichardt area competed in their first national off-road race, the Soutpansberg 400, on Saturday.

Polokwane was made proud once again by Brian Baragwanath (Yamaha) who claimed his fourth victory in the Q1 class and placed first with his teammate Hannes Saaijman (Yamaha) short on his tail in second place and Damien Lee (Honda) in third place.

Limpopo was also proud to have local riders Jaco Muller (Yamaha) from Tzaneen in fourth place and André Park (Yamaha) from Musina in fifth place.

In the senior class Stuart Freeman (Yamaha) came first and local riders Willie du Preez (Yamaha) from Louis Trichardt came second and Paul dos Santos (Suzuki) from Hoedspruit came third.

Ted Barbier (Yamaha) placed fourth. He will be competing in the 2016 Dakar Rally with George Twigge and Baragwanath next year.

Twigge (Yamaha) also won the Master Quad Class for the fourth time this year with the two brothers from Hoedspruit, Tony dos Santos (Yamaha) in second place and Roxy (Suzuki) in third place.

Wilmari Moller (Honda) proved to be just as talented has her brother, Jaco when she placed first in the Ladies Quad Class. TJ dos Santos (Yamaha) son of Tony also won the Silver Class Challenge.

Yamaha thus won the Manufacturers Award in the quad category.

The final two rounds of the Totpak National Championship, the Brandvlei Cellars 400 will be taking place outside Worcester on September 24 and 26.
